If only I could take part in the competition. Unfortunately, I imagine any moon rover I'm able to construct would only make it 400m across the surface of the planet, so I'm not even going to bother entering.

Take me to the moon in 2024, to Mars a few years later, and once propulsion technology catches up to the current Science Fiction, how about Gliese 581 C? Apparently, an earth like planet has been found 20 light years away that could indeed host human life sometime in the future.

Seriously, how cool would that be? Sign me up for the second mission! (Since all the people on the first mission will be eaten by alien wildlife and we'll learn from our mistakes.)

Well, I got the latest issue of time and read one article straight through, wide-eyed and eager to get in the action. What was it about? Only one of the most exciting new sectors of exploration and commercial development... private space travel and tourism. You absolutely have to read this article and tell me what you think! Wouldn't you love to colonize the moon with me? I'll be posting news about a site idea I've had for a little while as soon as it's up and running.

hehe The headline of a BBC news article (the title of this blog post) was quite eye catching. Of course, you go there and find out they've changed it to condemned, which more accurately describes what went on. We didn't actually nuke their space missile lab, we just didn't like the fact that they're carrying out live tests of ballistic missiles capable of knocking out satellites over 500 miles from Earth. And if you've got the time, here's an incredible space scene constructed by a spray paint artist. You'll be amazed at what he can do with spray paint! I've never seen anything like it... It was so cool I watched all 8+ minutes and then emailed the link to my brother. Go space!

This is a wide ranging blog post of a few topics on my mind with no necessary or imagined interconnectivity. However, there is a certain tendency toward insufferability that begs me to try to draw connections for the sake of it... (For those of you who don't know, you can click the read more links under my blog posts to view the whole thing!)

First, I'd love for you all to check out this news story: Amazon boss shows off spacecraft. Ahh, my ticket to the moon. It even has a video you can watch of this cone shaped spaceship lifting off and floating back to earth. Solid ground. Land... oh, I'd love to leave it and lose myself (and hopefully not my lunch) in the weightlessness of space. The other article I have for you isn't as cool, but it's interesting nonetheless: Black hole found in ancient lair. Makes me think a black hole is like a dragon... hoarding its wealth, the glory of the stars.

Having read this article, I thought I must share it with you! Nasa is apparently planning to establish a base on the south pole of the moon by the year 2024. The goal is to get 6 month residential visits by astronaut crews by the end of that year. Incredible! I'm sure they'll need a chaplain eventually, and you can bet I'll be the first to sign up.
